Fall Semester 2008

A little shocked about the fact that I have not been reported here so long, I am already. But here I am, I live and I feel good.

My first semester on staff is already over. It was awesome, exhausting, moving, herrausfordernd, educational ... and went by very quickly. In my area, the Bronx River Houses, I can see how to develop good relationships with my family. I can share in their world, see their relationships, hear their stories and speak into their lives.
Just last week I visited a family that I wanted to give just a gift from their sponsor. But then, the Parent of the kids from her heart and told me about the situation frustrated her family. From their own past, which seems to include a comprehensive coverage of everything it takes to break a man. Then their children, that most of the time they are sick and there is little hope of improvement, as long as they live in the Projects. When she said this she pointed to the ceiling where the wires and cables strung between a cockroach on the other. But worse than the conditions in the apartment, the fact is that she allows her children almost never out to play. "I do not want my children to become what their environment." They've seen it all: shootings, beatings, the whole range ... Things which are seen the children of the affluent society, thanks to irresponsible parents, sadly, on television reality for these children here. What I say
this family?

He is the only hope for this family. State projects, policing, anti-cockroach sprays are good, but what can change the lives of this family? Jesus alone. And I am in this apartment and I am His messenger. I tell them about Jesus, by His power, love and what he has done for her before her life began under the circumstances.
Such families are not unique. They are much more the norm. This story is just one of many ... I am grateful that God lead me into this situation and uses me.
